Recently I was chatting to a friend that I was helping. He was in my office and we sat and chatted about the current problem. I am a voice coach and do it for free. I have helped hundreds of guys get a deeper voice and I enjoy it. But Allan put it so succinctly, I had to share it with you here.

Allan was flipping burgers at the local franchise while completing his studies. His experience is very common for a guy with a high pitched voice. The way Allan put it, he was “tolerated” by others. He often woke in the mornings with a reasonable voice timber, not Barry White, but at least a good sounding Barry Manillow. But by 10 am he was sounding like “Screech”.

He was relaying all this to me as his voice was indeed changing and showing variations that really had no relevance to the meaning he was communicating. I found I had to consciously filter out his meaning for him and decipher, what he was actually saying and what his involuntary voice inflections were doing.

This is part of the problem. Poor communications. However the worst part is the assessments of others. Making the voice deeper improves your odds in so many ways. It is the one thing you can do about your self that will have the most dramatic long term impact. From women to job prospects, from business dealings, to important life challenges. A deeper voice seems to just tip the odds your way. This is what Allan was talking about. He was tired of just being tolerated. I didn’t blame him one bit.

It is amazing how much effect a full rich voice has on the reception of your conversation. People take you more seriously and pay more attention to your words if you have a deep resonant voice. In fact even people who have nothing of import to say and yet have commanding voices, are listened to with respect. It is a proven fact that our voice quality has much to do with our social acceptance.

Are you happy with your voice? Did it ever occur to you that the voice you have does not have to be the voice you are stuck with if you are not happy with it?. Do you ever say to yourself,”I wish I could make my voice deeper and fuller?” Voice control can be learned. Your voice can be trained just like any other physical part of your body. Try standing erect and balanced, allowing your jaw to relax. Speak as though you were using your abdomen instead of your throat to form the sound. Notice the difference in the sound as opposed to the shallow sound of your voice when you talk while slumped is your recliner with shallow breathing.

Public speakers and radio and TV personalities have known and proved for years that their popularity and success is due in large part to their crisp speaking voice. It is not just what they say, but how they say it that leaves an impression on people. Our current president is a prime example of this. In men, a deep resonant voice instills trust and respect in their hearers. The same is true for women who have rich warm voices.

While there are many things that can adversely affect your voice quality such as stress or nervousness, a full stomach, cold weather, tiredness, and poor posture, voice control is simply a matter of muscle and breath control. Learning voice control should be a priority for anyone who wants to be regarded with respect and trust by their peers. It is certainly a must for those who are in sales.

When you get a deeper voice, strange worlds open up. Often it is very frustrating for millions of American men, who suffer this affliction, to have a squeaky or high pitched voice. This is not a permanent thing, because most sufferers report, that often in the mornings, they do get a nice timber and resonance. However as the day wears on, the squeakiness and embarrassingly high pitch returns.

The key to a crisp deep voice and the credibility you get from possessing the power to sound like that is consistency. A permanent deep crisp voice is what most men want. It is little consolation for most men with this problem that their voice is comfortably deep and commanding in the mornings or the occasional morning. In fact, most of the positives and credibility you are ascribed by others is completely wiped out and neutralized after a few squeaky sentences.

People simply seem to warm to a man with a deep crisp voice. There is a tendency to trust easily and the voices sound confirms that trust with every syllable. Conversely, a man with a squeaky or inconsistent voice suffers the judgment and assessment of others as being weak, or even untrustworthy.

This plays a big role when applying for jobs or applying for a bank loan for a house. Business dealings run smoother and in your way when your voice is deep crisp and smooth. Getting a deep voice is crucial for most men. There are many avenues that can be taken, from singing lessons to speech therapy, however they all take quite a while… years of commitment and dutiful practice to achieve satisfactory results.

Some of the best voice coaches will work with the individuals timber and not their elocution or pronunciation. Many people who turn to a voice coach forget the reason why they came to one in the first place. Most men go get some speech therapy to improve the depth and timber of their voice on a consistent basis, but get lost and waste time on elocution lessons. Some even turn to signing lessons to try and develop the much sought after baritone voice.

Millions of men suffer from squeaky voice syndrome. Many report that typically, they may on occasion wake up to find they have a pleasant timber in their voice, but by mid morning it wears off and that strained nasal voice comes back. Many complain of the sensation, of the voice actually coming from their head and not their chest. This high pitch is due to a loss of habitual control and a loss of confidence.

These types of candidates are perfect for a voice coach because they have demonstrated capacity. The fact that their voice “CAN” sound deep and crisp on occasions in the mornings, means that they can be trained to have that voice consistently. Some men have biological reasons for this problem and may need other forms of medical intervention. However, if the experience of waking in the morning occasionally and having that crisp voice then it shows that it is the individuals training that needs help and no medical assistance is required. Some men have resorted to seeing their doctor about getting HRT or hormone replacement therapy and this can be the right course of action for some men who don’t have adequate levels of testosterone in their system.

There are many resources that assist with the depth of the speaking voice. The majority of these require a long and laborious training of the voice, from singing lessons, to hypnosis to speech therapy. All these types of courses require long term training and long term commitment.

The reason why they take so long is because none of these types of tuitional endeavors address the real issue. There is a kind of tangent solution effect happening here. Most men that enquirer about these solutions want one thing. They would like a crisp and deep speaking voice, thats all. They really don’t want singing lessons, nor do they want hypnosis, nor elocution lessons.

However the idea, is if you did any of these types of solutions, you may improve the depth and crispness and timber of your voice. In plain fact, the issue is the vocal chords. Plain and simple, that is what we are dealing with. Most vocal chords are roughly the same size. They are a small muscle group that when strained produce an inferior raw sound when air is passed through them.

This is easily bared out by women that have hormone replacement therapy. If a woman can achieve a deep crisp voice than a man with a squeaky and high pitched voice can do the same. Sure you could take hrt (hormone replacement therapy) but this often has side effects.

The essence of the problem for a man with a squeaky voice is not the size of the voice box. The problem is the quality of the tension. Loosen the tension and you deepen the resulting voice. Looser vocal chords provide a deeper, crisper voice.
