A recent study of over 100 women showed that 75% of them tend not to trust an answer from a man with a high pitched or squeaky voice. To clarify, this survey was comprised exclusively of women aged from 18 to 50 but the results were surprising to say the least.

This type of result indicates that a high pitched or squeaky voice actually creates doubt in a womans mind. Whether the question is…”have you had a good day?” or “Were you cheating on me?” The result is the same, if the voice is not crisp deep and the tone is not re-assuring, the tendency is to doubt the truth of the answer given by the man with a high pitched voice.

Further more, the study showed eye contact to be useless when it came to the sound of a squeaky voice. It seems like the old fall back of making eye contact to be of little use in generating credibility, when the voice was weak. But bear in mind, this study was made within the frame work of the male/female dynamic. A study of how men respond to this type of voice weakness has not yet been completed.

Without the capacity to be believed, to foster trust in others, life can often become difficult for men with a weak or high pitched voice. Ultimately, what this survey points to is that for at least 75% of 100 women, a deep crisp voice is the desired way they need to be addressed for them to invest trust in a mans answers. Does this mean getting a permanent crisp deep voice can lead to a better future? Seems logical.

Millions of men around the world suffer from a light squeaky voice, but very few find a solution to this frustrating condition. Most men who cannot achieve a deep crisp consistent speaking voice fall into two broad groups.

The two groups are ones requiring medical help, the others requiring simple training techniques. It is easy to know which group you are in by asking yourself if your high voice is always high, or are there occasions where the voice can be sustainable, deep and crisp.

Many sufferers report finding that on occasion they wake up in the morning after a particularly restful nights sleep to find a very pleasant deep timber in their chest. This indicates that the voice box is the right size and no surgery would be required, but may simply need to learn a few exercises to achieve the sought after voice crispness.

Some men may be suffering from a lack of testosterone in their system and a course of hormone replacement therapy may resolve the problem permanently or temporarily. This type of problem is easily fixed with a few pills. But you must speak to your doctor and weigh up the side effects. Men that suffer depression typically find that the depression is caused by a lack of testosterone and studies have found a correlation between men with high voices and depression.

Ultimately, if you are suffering from inconsistent high pitched voice, you can resolve it permanently by following a few simple techniques, but you must determine whether you are in the group that do not need medical assistance.

Recently I was chatting to a friend that I was helping. He was in my office and we sat and chatted about the current problem. I am a voice coach and do it for free. I have helped hundreds of guys get a deeper voice and I enjoy it. But Allan put it so succinctly, I had to share it with you here.

Allan was flipping burgers at the local franchise while completing his studies. His experience is very common for a guy with a high pitched voice. The way Allan put it, he was “tolerated” by others. He often woke in the mornings with a reasonable voice timber, not Barry White, but at least a good sounding Barry Manillow. But by 10 am he was sounding like “Screech”.

He was relaying all this to me as his voice was indeed changing and showing variations that really had no relevance to the meaning he was communicating. I found I had to consciously filter out his meaning for him and decipher, what he was actually saying and what his involuntary voice inflections were doing.

This is part of the problem. Poor communications. However the worst part is the assessments of others. Making the voice deeper improves your odds in so many ways. It is the one thing you can do about your self that will have the most dramatic long term impact. From women to job prospects, from business dealings, to important life challenges. A deeper voice seems to just tip the odds your way. This is what Allan was talking about. He was tired of just being tolerated. I didn’t blame him one bit.
