Some people only have to go through this embarrassment during the time their voice is changing, as a pre-teen/teenager. Yet for some people it is long lasting problem that could cause serious self esteem issues.

A person’s voice is their way of expressing themselves. If someone has a voice that they are ashamed of they will most likely be very shy and not speak too often. This can affect multiple aspects of someone’s life, like their ability to perform during a job interview. Other people have strong and deep voices, that they are proud of. These people are generally more outspoken, and therefore it is easier for them to make friends and be successful in life.

You see, your voice plays a big role in the outcome of your life, and so it should be taken care of and pushed to it’s full potential. What most people don’t realize is you can actually change your voice as you see fit. Yes that’s right, even if you have a voice like Peewee Herman, there is always something you can do about it.

The section of your throat that contains the vocal chords is called the larynx. When your vocal chords vibrate they create a sound. The pitch/tone of the sound will depend on how much tension is being put on your vocal chords an how long your vocal chords are. If there is high tension then you will get a high pitched sound, where as relaxed vocal chords creating low tension will produce deeper sound. Therefore, in order to deepen your voice you must make your vocal chords longer, and lower the amount of tension in your larynx.

The muscles that are responsible for controlling your vocal sounds are called Cricothyroid muscles and also the Vocalis muscles. So, exercising these muscles will give you a deeper voice. “How do I exercise them?” You may ask. Well, the answer is really quite simple. All you have to do to deepen your voice is hum different notes in a deep voice for prolonged periods of time. By training your vocal chords to produce a certain amount of tension you will be lengthening them and your voice will eventually become deeper over time.

Likewise, if you wanted to be able to hit the high notes, then you would just hum high pitched sounds in different notes for prolonged periods of time. If you want a raspy voice then let your voice get sore by depriving it of water when it gets dry, then try to push more air out when you talk, like you are talking from within your chest. Over time the vocal chords will scar and then heal, producing a raspy sound as the vibrations pass through the scar tissue and the saliva that is built up on it.

While most people would not want a raspy voice, it just goes to show that the voice is a changeable muscle group just like the rest of the muscles in your body. If you’re trying to change your voice, then you’ll need to remember it will take persistance.

Every person has his or her tone and quality of voice. It may be husky, soft, loud or even well-modulated. A person can also create an impression by using his voice alone. Even without looking at a person, you may know that a person is confident and strong or meek and shaky just by listening to his voice. This is why a lot of people are looking for ways to improve the quality of their voice.

This is especially important in job interviews and public speeches. You need to impress the crowd with the way you convey your messages to them. If you are interested in ways on how to improve voice quality, here are a few simple tips you can consider.

You can start by conditioning your vocal cord. Remember that your voice from your vocal cord, so you need to take care of it. Avoid shouting out loud to prevent straining and injury to your voice box. Also, it is advised that you drink lots of water to keep it well hydrated and avoid a raspy voice output. This is one of the most overlooked ways on how to improve voice quality.

When speaking to a person, open your mouth widely and relax your muscles by keeping your mouth and jaw loose. You can do this by breathing in as you would do before yawning. With your mouth more open, you are allowing the sound to resonate onto your mouth.

Your tongue should be moved forward but not to the point of sticking it out. Just allow it to come in contact with the back of your lower teeth. This prevents your tongue from being in the way of your throat. Try to relax your throat to avoid tiring the neck and tongue muscles. Make sure to force the air out of your lungs rather than your throat. These are just a few ways on how to improve voice quality. Keep practicing and you will have that dream voice in no time.
